ATTACHMENT
THERAPY
IN CALGARY
You long for connection. So why does it sometimes feel so difficult?
Attachment patterns aren't personality flaws or signs that something is wrong with you. They're adaptive ways your nervous system learned to create safety, maintain connection, and meet your needs within relationships.
Through The Somatic Integration Method™, we help your nervous system experience new patterns of safety and connection and develop a greater capacity for secure attachment.

YOUR MIND WANTS TO SLOW DOWN, BUT YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM WON'T LET YOU.
You may feel anxious, restless, overwhelmed, or constantly on alert.
Or you may go the other way...
shutting down, disconnecting, losing motivation, or feeling too exhausted to engage.
You try to relax.
You rest.
You breathe.
You meditate.
And still...
your body keeps bracing, scanning, rushing, collapsing, or preparing for something to go wrong.
This doesn’t mean you’re failing at self-regulation.
It may mean your nervous system has been adapting to stress for so long that dysregulation has started to feel normal.
Nervous system regulation therapy helps you work with these patterns at the level of the body, so calm, energy, connection, and resilience become easier to access.
THE TRUTH
ABOUT NERVOUS SYSTEM DYSREGULATION:
Self-awareness can help you recognize your patterns.
Relaxation techniques can help you feel better for a moment.
But a nervous system that has adapted to chronic stress does not regulate through understanding or willpower alone.
When your body keeps bracing, rushing, shutting down, scanning for danger, or preparing for something to go wrong, the work has to include the body.
Nervous system dysregulation is not simply emotional or psychological.
It’s physiological.
It can affect your breath, sleep, digestion, energy, concentration, relationships, and ability to feel settled in your own life.
It can make everyday life feel harder than it should.
That’s why the work has to address the patterns your body has learned, not just the thoughts you understand.
↓↓
YOU CAN KNOW YOU'RE SAFE,
AND STILL NOT FEEL SAFE.
Insight matters...
It can help you understand your patterns, recognize your triggers, and make sense of why your nervous system responds the way it does.
But insight alone does not always change what your body has learned through chronic stress, overwhelm, or past experience.
Your mind may know there is no immediate danger.
But your body may still brace, rush, freeze, collapse, disconnect, or stay constantly alert.
This is why nervous system regulation work has to include the body.
Somatic therapy works with these patterns in real time, helping your nervous system gradually build more safety, flexibility, and capacity.

WHAT MAKES THE
SOMATIC INTEGRATION METHOD™
DIFFERENT?
Insight matters.
Your nervous system also
needs new experiences.
Understanding your history, recognizing your triggers, and talking through what happened can be deeply valuable.
But insight does not always change the automatic patterns happening in your body.
You may understand why you feel anxious, shut down, or overwhelmed and still find yourself bracing, disconnecting, pleasing others, losing your voice, or preparing for something to go wrong.
The Somatic Integration Method™ works with these patterns as they arise in real time.
Our approach brings together:
Nervous-system regulation
Recognize activation and shutdown earlier, remain present with more of your experience, and recover more easily after stress.
Somatic processing
Work with sensation, breath, posture, movement, emotion, and protective impulses, and not only the story you tell about them.
Attachment and relational repair
Develop new experiences of connection and co-regulation while strengthening your boundaries, voice, and ability to remain yourself.
We do not rush your system or force emotional breakthroughs.
You do not need to relive every painful detail or push yourself beyond what you can integrate.
Instead, we work gradually—helping your nervous system develop more choice, support, flexibility, and capacity.
Regulation is not about convincing yourself that everything is safe.
It is about helping your body discover that it has more options.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SESSION?
Each session is shaped around you, your nervous system, and what feels most important at the time.
Real-Time
Co-Regulation
You don’t have to do this work alone.
We help you slow down, settle, and stay connected to what is happening in your body without forcing anything too quickly.
Education & Insight
Understanding still matters.
We help you make sense of your patterns so you can meet them with more clarity, compassion, and choice.
Guided Somatic Exploration
You’ll be supported to notice sensations, emotions, impulses, images, and protective responses as they arise.
Instead of getting lost in the same old story, we help you track what is happening in real time.
Empathic Witnessing
Healing deepens when we are safely met by another person.
We bring presence, attunement, and compassionate witnessing to what may have been carried alone for too long.
Meet Aaron and Alissa
A therapist couple. Two distinct practitioners. One shared method.
At The AUM Institute, you will work one-on-one with either Aaron or Alissa. We do not conduct these sessions together.
What makes our practice distinctive is that we are not two unrelated practitioners sharing an office. We are partners, co-founders, and long-term students of nervous-system regulation, attachment, relationships, and somatic healing.
Together, we developed the Somatic Integration Method™, a shared approach combining nervous-system regulation, somatic processing, attachment repair, and relational awareness.
Although we each bring a different personality, therapeutic presence, and area of strength, our work is grounded in the same principles and carefully developed together
Two practitioners. One shared foundation.
Between us, our work draws from:
- Somatic Experiencing® and trauma-informed practice
- attachment theory and relational repair
- nervous-system regulation and co-regulation
- couples and relationship work
- traditional contemplative and body-based practices
- decades of personal practice, professional training, and lived experience
Being a couple has also given us years of direct experience with the realities of relationship: closeness, conflict, vulnerability, family life, rupture, repair, and growth.
We do not present ourselves as having a perfect relationship or perfectly regulated nervous systems.
We understand that meaningful change develops through practice—by recognizing our patterns, remaining present through discomfort, communicating honestly, repairing disconnection, and gradually responding with greater flexibility.
That lived experience shapes the way we understand and support our clients.
Finding the practitioner who feels right for you

Whomever you work with, you can expect a gentle, collaborative, and carefully paced approach that respects what your nervous system is ready to explore.
A PRIVATE, GROUNDED SPACE FOR NERVOUS SYSTEM REGULATION
You’re invited into the warmth and safety of our SW Calgary studio.
Our southwest Calgary studio was intentionally designed to help your nervous system slow down.
The environment itself is calm, quiet, and free from unnecessary stimulation—creating a space where your body can begin to shift out of survival mode and into greater regulation.
Working together in person allows us to notice subtle changes in your breath, posture, muscle tension, movement, and nervous system responses as they happen.
Some sessions may include gentle somatic practices, grounding exercises, body awareness, or consent-based therapeutic touch when appropriate and only with your explicit permission.
Whether we meet in person or online, our goal is the same:
To create the conditions where your nervous system can safely learn new patterns of regulation.
Appointments are available throughout the week, including evenings and weekends.
Online sessions are also available.

YOUR MIND KNOWS THE PAST IS OVER.
YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM MAY NOT.
- The AUM Institute -
NERVOUS SYSTEM REGULATION THERAPY MAY BE RIGHT FOR YOU IF...
- You feel tense, restless, overwhelmed, or constantly on alert.
- You have difficulty slowing down, relaxing, or recovering after stress.
- You move between anxiety, irritability, shutdown, numbness, exhaustion, or disconnection.
- Your reactions sometimes feel stronger or faster than the situation seems to warrant.
- You rely on coping strategies that help temporarily, but the same patterns keep returning.
- You understand your triggers intellectually, yet your body still reacts automatically.
- You want more regulation, resilience, emotional range, and choice in everyday life.
- You’re ready for a body-based method that works directly with nervous-system patterns.
You’re not broken.
It's not too late.
Your nervous system has been doing exactly what it learned to do to protect you.
Patterns that once helped you manage stress or survive difficult experiences may now be limiting your ability to rest, connect, focus, and feel present.
Nervous System Regulation Therapy helps you work with these patterns at the level of the body, so your system can become more flexible, recover more easily, and respond to life with greater choice.

WHAT IS THE SOMATIC INTEGRATION METHOD™?
The Somatic Integration Method™ is our body-based, relational framework for helping people heal trauma, regulate the nervous system, and reconnect with themselves.
Rather than focusing only on thoughts or emotions, we work with what is happening in your body, nervous system, relationships, and lived experience.
Everything we do is guided by three core pillars:
Integration
Working with what your body has been holding.
Trauma can leave parts of us stuck in survival.
Integration helps those patterns complete, soften, and settle.
Reconnection
Returning to your body, self, and relationships.
Trauma disconnects us from our body, boundaries, needs, and others.
Reconnection helps restore trust where protection took over.
Awakening
Living with more presence, choice, and truth.
As survival patterns soften, more of you becomes available.
Awakening is the return of clarity, aliveness, and deeper self-trust.
This work isn’t a quick fix or one-size-fits-all protocol.
It is a relational, body-based process paced around what your nervous system can actually integrate.
